Indian clothes & jewelry
If you would like to wear Indian attire and need somewhere to start, here are a few places guests have used:
- Amazon: search Indian jewelry, kurta, lehenga, anarkali, or dupatta
- Etsy
- Lashkaraa
- Pernia's Pop-Up Shop
- Andaaz Fashion
For the reception, look for pre-tied sarees if you want to wear one. They are very difficult to tie.
Common questions
Do I need to wear Indian clothes? No. Indian attire is welcome but not required. Men can wear suits, dress shirts, or kurtas. Women can wear dresses, gowns, lehengas, anarkalis, or sarees. For the Gurdwara ceremony, dress modestly and bring a scarf or dupatta to cover your head.
What if I cannot sit on the floor during the ceremony? Let a volunteer know when you arrive — they’ll help with options.
What if I'm running late to the ceremony? Come anyway. Slip in quietly through the back, cover your head, and find a spot along the side. The Laavan is the heart of the ceremony, so the goal is to be settled before it starts, but late is better than missing it.
